TB Clinic Information
Our mission is to prevent the spread of TB by testing individuals who may have TB and treating those with the disease.
The TB Control Center is located 400 NE 50th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73105 just west of Lincoln Blvd on 50th on the south side of the road. Hours are Monday through Thursday 7:00am to 5:30 pm. It is closed all day Fridays and closes at 4:00pm the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month for staff meetings and training.
Services
Skin tests are available Monday and Tuesday from 7:00am to 4:30 pm on a walk-in basis to all residents of Oklahoma County for a charge of $20.00. They are read on Wednesdays and Thursdays. All skin tests must be read within 48-72 hours. Be aware that the clinic may be closed on certain holidays and skin testing or reading schedules may be affected.
If your skin test is positive, you will be interviewed by a nurse and given a chest x-ray to determine your treatment needs. Dependent upon the reason for your initial TB test, there may be a $35 charge for your chest x-ray. You may be infected with the bacteria that causes TB, but not actually have TB disease. In this case, the physician may recommend preventive therapy in the form of antibiotics.
If your skin test is positive and your chest x-ray indicates active disease, you will be tested further to determine the best treatment. You will also be informed on how to protect those around you from contracting TB.
If any treatment is prescribed by the staff physician it will be provided at no cost to the client.
Chest x-rays are provided to individuals with positive skin tests who are referred by their doctor, place of employment, or other community partner. The charge for this service is $35.00. Chest x-rays are also available to University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) and Oklahoma City University (OCU) international students who have a positive skin test at their university.
