The Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) program at Oklahoma City-County Health Department (OCCHD) has been in existence for over 30 years.

The STD clinic provides evaluation and treatment of some STD with an emphasis on prevention.

- Staffed with four clinicians (RN), a charge nurse and an LPN, the clinic averages approximately 600 clients per month. A staff physician is available for consultation.

- The STD clinic is a walk-in clinic which is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8am to 4:00pm and on Tuesdays from 9am to 4:00pm. (Clinic numbers may be limited based on staffing.  Clients should check in prior to 3:00 p.m.)

- Fee: $5.00 for clinic services

In the 1997 Institute of Medicine Report, sexually transmitted diseases are referred to as "The Hidden Epidemic." The report states, "Of the top ten most frequently reported diseases in the United States, five are sexually transmitted diseases….with approximately 12 million new cases of STD occurring annually." The impact is greatest on women, young adults and adolescents. OCCHD is committed to reducing the number of STD in Oklahoma County.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has announced that Oklahoma County is ranked among the top twenty counties in the US for primary and secondary syphilis cases.

STD are preventable and most are curable!
