Children First

OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS 

  • Increased knowledge of pregnancy, nutrition, fetal development, labor/birth and parenting skills

  • Reduction in premature births

  • Reduction in very low birth weight babies

  • Decrease of time using public assistance

  • Fewer unintended subsequent births

  • Children First babies have higher rates of current immunizations

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation supports the Nurse Family Partnership.  Study after study show that when professional nurses make home visits to low-resource, first time parents, positive effects are seen for years or even decades.  Children First babies have higher I.Q. scores, had fewer behavior problems, and were better prepared to enter elementary school.  Children First Mothers were better educated on becoming a parent and of reaching her hearts desires.
