Child Guidance

Child Development and Parent Education

Sometimes being a parent isn’t easy.  You can get help from this program to become a more effective parent.  We will give you progress reports on your children as well as personal tips on parenting.  The program is available to all families with children from birth up to kindergarten age as well as teachers of children in the same age range, within Oklahoma County.

Information about developmental stages, guidance and discipline, toys and learning activities, improving family life and your important concerns are included in an individual appointment.

Consultation can be provided to individuals, other professionals and organizations that have interests in young children.  Some of the services offered include teacher training, parent meetings, observation of classrooms and resource coordination.

Child Development services include the assessment of your young child’s skills and behavior.  A developmental screening is a very general look at how your child is developing compared to other children the same age.

Referral services are also provided as needed.  A Child Development Specialist can assist by helping arrange for other services such as further evaluation of skills and behavior.

Classes and workshops are available for groups of parents, teachers and organizations.

Our most popular class is The Incredible Years curriculum.  This program offers a 12 week class for pre-registered attendees.  Participants learn specific techniques to encourage healthy family relationships for a lifetime of happier parenting.

Some of the topics covered in workshops and classes include:

  • understanding young children’s behaviors

  • guidance and discipline techniques
